Jeffrey Kowalkowski

Jeffrey Kowalkowski is proud to serve as “composer in residence” for Stockyard Institute.
Jeff has worked with Jim Duignan for decades on sound art projects with students of all ages, and has created many sound installations and radio broadcasts. Including “Synthia Lanois” which was created by students, and installed at DePaul Art Museum (FALL 2023). With students, he directed several performances and recordings for the 25 year Retrospective of Stockyard Institute at DPAM (2022).
Dr. Kowalkowski currently serves as adjunct professor at DePaul School of Music, and Northeastern Illinois University where he leads the Computer Music Practicum Lab. Here he works with students on creating new electro-acoustic compositions.
Creatively, he is working on film scoring, and has written music for several full length feature films with director Mark Siska, LLC. He also curated “New Music at the Green Mill” in Chicago (1991-2022).
Teaching private piano at Access Contemporary Music in Avondale, his students range from age 3 to 93.
As an improvising multi-instrumentalist he has performed at the finest venues in the Midwest and Internationally. He has recorded for Neuma Records, New Atlantis Records, Uvulittle Records, and No Harm Done Media.
