Nick Hostert

Artist & Teacher

Nick Hostert is an artist and educator in the Chicago area whose pedagogical expertise centers contemporary art practices at the core of quality arts curriculum and instruction. Nick has taught visual and media arts for 20 years at Palatine High School while also guiding educators of all levels in refining curriculum and pedagogy as lead facilitator of the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago’s Teacher Institute, through district-wide professional development programs, and via the ongoing Collaborating for Excellence project supported by the National Endowment for the Arts.


Nick is a National Board-Certified educator and Past-President of the Illinois Art Education Association who earned his MA in Art Education from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago as a Trustee Merit Scholar and his BA from Illinois State University as a Bone Scholar. He has been published in Studies in Arts Education and multiple NAEA books on creativity and assessment. Additionally, Nick serves on the board of ArtConnectED, an organization showcasing 1000+ students artworks annually in Bridgeport, connecting them with ~$90 million in arts tuition scholarships annually since 2013.
